A National Renewal with America

This year’s election offers the chance to bring a new majority to the House of Representatives that will transform the way Congress works. This historic change will be the end of government that is too big, too intrusive and too easy with the public’s money. It will be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

 A Congress without:

  • Earmarks (pork projects)
  • Unread legislation
  • “Riders” on unrelated bills
  • Closed-door deals
  • Unsustainable spending
  • The relentless growth of government
  • Special interests forming national policy

As a member of the House of Representatives, I will restore the trust between the people and their 8th Congressional Representative.

Once endorsed by the Republican Party, I will communicate this plan to the other 434 congressional races requesting coalition-building support for this proposal.

Within the first 100 days of taking office, I will bring the following bills to the House Floor, each to be given full and open debate, each to be given a clear and fair vote and each to be immediately available for public inspection and scrutiny.

1.   The Financial Responsibility Act:

*    Initiate a Constitutional amendment that would mandate a balanced federal budget.

*    Require an immediate freeze on spending increases.

*    Reduce the federal debt to five trillion dollars over the next ten years.

*    Add a Presidential line-item veto on financial matters to reduce  “pork” spending.

*    Enact legislation that finally ends the federal death tax.

*    Repeal any scheduled tax increases.

*    Allow for the gradual privatization of Social Security to assure financial solvency and create greater long-term returns for the individual.

2.   The Job Creation Act:

*    Encourage the state-administered unemployment system to require individuals to participate in education, training and/or enhanced job searches while receiving benefits.

*    Promote mutual free trade agreements with other countries to create new markets for our U.S. made goods and services.

*    Minimize regulatory barriers that inhibit job creation and economic growth.

*    Reduce the corporate tax rate by 25% to encourage new business investment and expansion.

3.   The Immigration Reform Act:

*    Mitigate the crippling financial, moral and civil costs of illegal immigration by eliminating federal funding for sanctuary cities.

*    Assert English as the national language of the United States of America.

*    Restructure the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to accommodate the timely and orderly processing of legal immigrant applications.

*    Promote economic development and good governance in Latin America to discourage illegal immigration.

4.   The Energy Restoration Act:

*    Encourage the continued development of innovative forms of energy including solar, wind, Generation IV nuclear power, and hydrogen technology.

*    Explore new sources and technologies for oil, natural gas, and coal production in the United States to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

*    Ease nuclear power plant development restrictions at the Federal level to encourage resumption of world leadership in nuclear power for electrical generation and the fostering of next-generation hydrogen technology.

5.   The Education Renewal Act:

*    Eliminate the No Child Left Behind Act as demanded by the platforms of both Minnesota DFL and Minnesota GOP parties.

*    Phase the Federal Government out of education by keeping educational funding and authority within the state and local communities.

*    Encourage the complete spectrum of educational formats including traditional public schools, private or parochial schools, charter schools, school vouchers, private scholarship programs and home schooling.

*    Eliminate government domination of sex education programs by returning control of such issues to parents and local communities.

*    Ensure that the focus of education is directed towards the needs of the individual instead of trying to forcibly fit children into a single bureaucratic paradigm.

6.   The Family Values and Constitutional Integrity Act:

*    Continue present federal policy to deny the use of any tax dollars or federal monies to pay for abortions.

*    Oppose any legislation that places government restrictions on the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

*    Reaffirm that the government does not have the ultimate authority in the raising of families; that right continues to belong to parents.

7.   The Health Care Reform Act:

*    Oppose federally directed healthcare plans.

*    Eliminate frivolous lawsuits against doctors and healthcare providers through tort reform and limiting “jackpot jury” awards.

*    Encourage interstate competition for health insurance.

*    Equalize tax laws so individuals can deduct the cost of their health insurance premiums the same way a corporation can.

8.   The National Defense Act:

*    Require all American troops to be under U. S. command and not under United Nations control to preserve the sovereignty of the United States Military.

*    Encourage a quick and lasting victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military recommended troop surges in a timely manner.

*    Require a foreign policy that promotes the containment of rogue nations and fosters effective action to mitigate or eliminate biological, chemical and nuclear weapons threats.

9.   The Term Limit Act:

*    Initiate legislation that limits congressional and senatorial terms at the federal level to 12 consecutive years.

10. The Environmental Stewardship Act:

*    Oppose international and domestic cap and trade legislation (carbon credit trading schemes) that discourage business growth, redistribute wealth and charge the consumer for the resultant inflationary costs.

*    Mitigate the excessive tone, unrealistic goals, economic burdens and erosion of the rights of private property ownership legislated by the Clean Water Act of 1972 as amended.
